Frequently Asked Questions

How best to reach you through the communication modes you have explained in the TNC Website?

The business is mostly coordinated through a virtual space and the email is the main communication mode. Virtual meetings are held mainly via Zoom or Ms Teams. Preferably you should send a WhatsApp which you can do anytime and set up an appointment should you need to hold a virtual meeting. Should you need to call we are available after hours between 17:00 and 21:00 weekdays or on weekends 09:00 – 21:00. We can give you an alternative time via WhatsApp if you cannot make the call during the abovementioned times. When you initiate your query via WhatsApp kindly highlight the help you require. Where necessary we will advise moving the interaction to email or set up an appointment for either Zoom or Teams and we will try our best to communicate with you in the platform most convenient for you.

Will you charge me for the initial call or WhatsApp?

Our invoice/bill is based on an hourly rate and the amount of research and effort put to construct feedback.  We will not charge for the call or WhatsApp initiating the query but also note that we may not necessarily express a view or opinion on the matter at that stage. We will charge for feedback given via email or any other platform agreed to between us. Please note that clients may be required to pay a deposit before a response or feedback is given on a query. Most feedback is over email and virtual meeting platforms.

Will you give us a solution on the initial call?

Existing clients may be given response/feedback immediately if readily available and on a matter not complex or complicated or which does not require much research. We will as far as possible follow up with an email documenting the feedback provided over the phone. That email will be accompanied by an invoice on the feedback given.

Do your consultation amount to legal advice?

Whilst our consultants are well educated and hold relevant qualifications ranging from law, education and policy and are highly competent, experienced and expert in the area, consultation does not amount to legal advice. Clients would have to formally instruct a practicing attorney if they would like to follow the legal route to resolve their issues or disputes with other parties. We can help crystalise the issue or dispute for them to decide as whether or when to go legal route in particular for disputes that require to be resolved by and in a court of law.

Mostly clarity can be sought and disputes can be dealt with and resolved without the need to go the legal route and that is where our business comes in –this will amount to great savings on our clients’ purses and time. We offer quality service and informed solutions. Our business is pro-active and informed by principles such as foreseeability and preventability and the taking of necessary steps to avoid or resolve disputes in the education sector.

How are your consultants qualified or trained to do their jobs?

Our consultants hold qualifications ranging from education, law and policy and are highly experienced in the area to deal with issues and disputes through a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach.

Why Twenty Ninth Clause?

Most schools and associations either cannot afford to have in-house consultants to assist them navigate education law and policy issues nor gain easy access to people who could fulfill roles as consultants in the area of law and policy for schools or within the education space.

People with the relevant skill are very limited and they are either practicing in the legal field or lecturing in higher education institutions and are either unavailable or difficult to access or afford.

It may also be premature or undesirable to engage a lawyer at an early stage in the dispute – when matters have not reached litigation stage or would be expensive to follow that route.

We are pioneers and leaders in this area and have a multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to dispute analysis and resolution. Consulting with us will go a long way to minimise the risk to the reputation of an education institution which results from education law and policy related issues in the education sector.

The business is registered as Twenty Ninth Clause – what else do people call you?

Twenty Ninth Clause Pty Ltd is also called:
